Workshop Description
Designed for those wishing to move beyond the “postcard” approach to color photography, this workshop challenges participants to create images that have more in common with painting than with photojournalism. The week’s major themes are color and light, and how they can transform the most mundane as well as the grandest of subjects. Alison shares her passion for the creative possibilities of color and her techniques for maximizing its effect.
Our week begins with a review of previous work and a wide-ranging discussion of our photographic, artistic, and career goals. Classroom hours are devoted to critiques of new work, lectures, discussions, and individual feedback. Most of our time in the field is spent together, so that each participant can receive hands-on guidance in planning and making photographs on location. Expect the days to be long, intense, exhilarating, and rewarding as we learn to see the world in a new, deeply personal way. Santa Fe is one of the world’s most beautiful and intriguing cities, and it has a rich legacy in the photographic arts.
